If it’s important for you, what are you doing right now to incorporate it in your strategy?
If not, what are the reasons for that decision?

This is a great example how Google Wave can contribute to collaboration in a new, faster, near real-time way, a perfect Enterprise 2.0 example!
Most of the examples I’ve seen is a replacement of a communication tool, be it an IM, email or social network. Of course that’s good, but it’s substitional, whilst this example is incremental. It enhances communication and collaboration speeding and simplifying the modelling experiences for SAP.

As explained on the SAP Community Network, Gravity is:

Gravity is a prototype developed by SAP Research in Brisbane, Australia and SAP NetWeaver Development providing real-time, cloud-based collaborative business process modelling within Google Wave. Google Wave is Google’s new real-time collaboration platform that combines features of e-mail, social networking, wikis and instant messaging in one integrated browser-based client. Google Wave offers rich developer APIs to extend the core functionality with custom components. We have embedded Gravity as a Google Wave “gadget” that can be added within the Google Wave client. Leveraging the collaborative features of Google Wave, all business process modelling activities get propagated in near real-time to all other participants of the Wave. In addition, participants of the Wave can use all other features provided by Google and its developer community to enrich the collaborative modelling experience.

See both a screenshot and a video and get inspired for Enterprise 2.0 solutions with the help of Google Wave!

An interesting remark / point of perspective came up in one of the other Waves, where was debated that Internet cannot be a strategy because it should support the marketing strategy.

“In my opinion there is the marketing strategy, as defined by the classics like brand positioning, target segments, benefits of offer and experience. Internet consists of a series of touch points that should support that.
Some could be critical touch points that support the unique benefit, or just be touch points amongst the path that just need not to oppose the benefit. Customer needs comes first, then the positioning/ benefit, then the touch point analysis, that decides on the internet approach.”

I do find this an interesting theorem/point of perspective, what do you think?
Can the Internet be strategized or do you concur with the abovementioned?

Do you think Print Media still has a place within the marketing strategy? Are they desperate attempts or can it revive in a more innovative cross-channel manner?

Google Wave, two weeks in progress and what an impression!

It’s great to experience the initial stages of a project of this magnitude which is disruptive and innovative as Google Wave.
One of the first things I found striking is being accustomed to get in contact with anybody, be it via email, social network or another mean. This is not yet the case with Google Wave, the amount of invites (thus the slow diffusion / adoption) amongst the potential users is causing part of this slow kick start. As long as not everybody has access to the platform it has an opposite effect.

Secondly, the current buggy state does not contribute to a good and easy initial experience as Google Wave has a learning curve to figure out all the options and possibilities (check out for the many explenatory videos on Youtube concerning Google Wave), for many non-tech-savvy people this is an obstruction and will not motivate.

Thirdly and most importantly, all the Waves and its interactions, I’m having the same kind of feeling which I had in the old days when I was getting acquainted with Internet, email, chat, messageboards and other applications.
The other participants and I are finding out how to applicate Waves in what kind of settings and purposes, educating and pointing out each other and reinforcing the Collaborative Curve in the initial stages of the platform.
It’s the same learning path and discovery, it’s the same eagerness to learn the opportunities and possibilities, it’s the same child-like marveling!

Learning by process and enhancing each others skills will fire up enthausiasm and exploration.

If you want to involve me in Waves or get in touch with me via Google Wave, do add me with gcuccuredduamg [at] googlewave.com , let’s get in touch, share and learn.

What are your initial impressions using Google Wave?

Google Wave will launch in less than a day, on the 30th of September more than 100.000 invites will be send out.
The new real-time platform will certainly impact all of us how we will communicate and collaborate, as set forth in our article Google Wave: The Nexus of Communication.

So who will be amongst the 100.000+ lucky ones who will get an invite for Google Wave?
As set forth on the Google blog it will be:

*Developers who have been active in the developer preview we started back in June
*The first users who signed up and offered to give feedback on wave.google.com
*Select customers of Google Apps

We’ll ask some of these early users to nominate people they know also to receive early invitations — Google Wave is a lot more useful if your friends, family and colleagues have it too. This, of course, will just be the beginning. If all goes well we will soon be inviting many more to try out Google Wave.

I’m curious to see how the audience will perceive Google Wave and if the long awaited expectations do meet the real experience.
Furthermore, will Google Wave be hyped, will it be raved or will it ‘crash’ under it’s own expectations?

Are you ready for it?
